Maren Martin, Owner & President
Maren Martin, a honey industry professional since 1993, has led The Impex Group, Inc. as president since 2021, guiding its growth and expanding its global operations.
Maren and her team play a role in shaping the honey industry. Maren is the current president of the Western States Honey Packers and Dealers Association (WSHPDA), serves as an alternate member of the National Honey Board, and is a member of key organizations including the National Honey Packers and Dealers Association (NHPDA) and True Source Honey, LLC. She also collaborates with U.S. Customs to strengthen supply chain due diligence through the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) and travels globally to cultivate supplier and customer relationships. Committed to industry sustainability, The Impex Group engages with U.S. and international regulatory frameworks to protect the integrity of honey worldwide.
Hans J. Boedeker, Founder
Originally from Bremen, Germany, Hans J. Boedeker began his career in the export department at Volkswagen AG. In 1964, he immigrated to the United States with his wife, Christa—traveling by a VW freighter to New York with their VW Beetle on board. After driving cross-country to California, Hans eventually secured a role as an Export Manager for Sioux Honey Association, where his passion for the honey industry took root.
In the early 1970s, Hans founded a honey export company, Sunland Products, dedicated to exporting bulk honey to major packers in Germany. His entrepreneurial spirit, global perspective, and strong relationships helped lay the foundation for what would later become The Impex Group, Inc., which Hans started in 1978. In its early years, Impex focused on exporting honey to well-known German packers such as Langnese, Schütte, and Breitsamer, while importing honey to the U.S. primarily from Mexico and Argentina. Over the years, Hans has maintained a good rapport with his trading partners.
Throughout his career, Hans served on the National Honey Board, as well as within the National Honey Packers and Dealers Association. He also held the role of president of the Western States Honey Packers and Dealers Association for a number of years. A respected voice in the industry, Hans has been a frequent speaker at national and international events, sharing his insights on both U.S. and global honey markets.
Sarah Neves, Vice President of Operations
Sarah Neves is a well-respected leader in the honey industry and has been a vital part of The Impex Group, Inc. since 2015. She oversees the company’s quality assurance program and plays a key role in operations and strategic decision-making with Maren. Sarah also serves on the board of True Source Honey, LLC and the National Honey Board, and is currently a member of the executive committee of the National Honey Packers and Dealers Association (NHPDA).
