Beekeeper Stories

Rooted in Connections
When Hans Boedeker founded The Impex Group in 1978, he already had years of experience working with honey suppliers around the world and beekeepers across the U.S. From the beginning, The Impex Group was built on a foundation of trusted relationships—with producers, partners, and customers alike. Hans always enjoyed running a business rooted in strong personal connections and, even after his retirement, he still values those relationships. Hans frequently traveled to visit bee farms and honey export facilities to see firsthand the dedication of beekeepers and exporters. Commitment to connection and collaboration remains central to how we do business today. We’re proud to share just a few of the stories of the hard-working beekeepers in our supply chain—whose passion for their craft helps bring quality honey to tables around the world.

Vietnam: Ngoc Duong Nguyen
I was born in Phu Tho province, where there's a long tradition of beekeeping. As a child, I was captivated the first time I saw golden honey and tasted its sharp sweetness with a lingering fragrance. I learned from a beekeeper that the small bees diligently flew in and out of their hives from dawn to dusk, gathering nectar from surrounding flowers to make honey. The sweetness of honey, the hardworking bees, the beekeepers’ skillful care, and their smiles during harvest inspired me to choose beekeeping as my profession, both to fuel my passion and to make a living.
